How To Reduce The Look of Scars


A scar is a natural part of the healing process. Scars occur when the deep thick layer of the skin (the dermis) is damaged.  The worse the damage, the worse the scar is will be.  The redness that follows an injury is not a scar, and won’t be permanent, however it can take a few days to several years, in extreme cases, to go away.

When a wound occurs there is a break in some of the tissue. The body heals it by producing more of a protein called collagen.   Collagen builds up in the place where the tissue was broken eventually helping it to close.

Keloid scars push into the normal skin and hang off the skin in a sagging lump.  It is estimated that only 10% of people develop  Keloid scars.

Sandalwood and rosewater have been shown to reduce acne scarring when used once a day.

Applying cucumber juice on the face for 15 minutes will tighten pores and reduce scarring. Leave on for approximately 15 minutes and rinse off with warm water.

Applying Rose Hip Oil, or  aloe vera gel or juice will also help to reduce the signs of acne scarring.
